With the growing consumer demands for sustainably sourced seafood, the Spencer Gulf Prawn fishery undertook a rigorous assessment process and attained full MSC – Marine Stewardship Council accreditation in 2011. Link to website below:


The fishery became the first prawn fishery in the Asia Pacific Region and the first King Prawn Fishery in the world to gain this full independent certification for sustainability.

The fishery now works collaboratively with the seafood business sector, governments, scientific community and environmental groups to ensure retailers, restaurants and consumers are given the opportunity to reward sustainable fishing practices.
